Mission Statement of the school
Our school motto is 'Putting Children First'. The children are at the heart of everything we do.
We provide opportunities for active learning within an atmosphere of co-operation and respect for others. We have high expectations with regard to the acquisition of literacy, mathematics, and scientific and technological skills. Pupils are also encouraged to pursue individual interests and develop confidence and creativity.
We recognise that parents play a large part in the education of their children. At Addingham Primary School parents and staff work together in partnership to encourage the qualities, attitudes, knowledge, understanding and competences which are necessary to equip children for adult life.
Admissions
The school's standard admission number is 45.
In each educational year the school is able to admit up to 45 children to the reception class.
In line with the LEA policy Addingham Primary School admits children into full time education at the beginning of the educational year in which their fifth birthday falls.
We recognise that all children are different, as are their pre-school experiences , so this means we are flexible in our admissions and try to work closely with parents. In order to meet the needs of individual children, particularly those who are very young in the year, parent's may opt for part-time admission.
If applications exceed the number of available places the following criteria will be used:
1. Brothers and sisters of children still on the school register will be admitted.
2. A place will be available for all children living in Addingham.
3. Children from outside the village, without siblings on the register, will only be admitted if there are places available. If the number of children exceeds the number of places available, places will be offered on the basis of a catchment area agreed with the LEA.
Parents who are not offered a place have the right to appeal to Pupil Access, Education Bradford, Future House, Bolling Road, Bradford, BD4 7EB. Telephone 01274 385607 |
