OUR SCHOOL

All Saints (Marsh) is a Church of England Voluntary Aided School. It means we maintain Christian Standards and relate a child's spiritual development to the Christian faith. However we very much welcome children of other faiths, and respect their views equally.

Our school is very much a village school in a town setting. We are a small school with a maximum number of 120 pupils, with a reputation for a friendly and caring community. All Governors and Staff are dedicated to the development of your child.
Our latest Inspection report (October 2002) notes many good features including some excellent SATs results, good quality teaching and effective leadership. Parents may obtain the full report on request.

The School is committed to work with the local community and with its neighbouring schools. For example we work together to provide a range of extended schools options - we use the After School and Breakfast clubs at our sister school, Wolborough.

STARTING SCHOOL

Our Admissions Policy is in line with that of Devon County Council. Each Devon school serves a particular area, but parents may apply for a place at any school. Parental choice of school is agreed whenever possible.
Where demand exceeds available places preference is given to:
*looked after children
*children with brothers or sisters attending the school
*children with special or medical needs
*children whose parents/carers wish them to have a Christian education.
Further details are available on request.
There will be no discrimination against any child on the grounds of disability or special education needs. Problems regarding admissions are dealt with by an Admissions Appeals Committee (South Devon Divisional Office Redworth House Totnes 01803 386823). Pupils are admitted in September following their fourth birthday. Initially the intake involves part-time attendance in the first two weeks. This enables us to settle your child in carefully and also to start the Foundation Stage Profiles which help us to plan their work programme.

A full programme of induction prior to your child's start at school involves visits by our staff to pre-school groups, and visits to school by your child. A Pre-School Information booklet is provided for new parents at this time. We also hold an informal meeting half a term before the school starts for parents of new children to provide information and to resolve any potential worries. By these means we hope to lay the foundations for a successful start at school. The Headteacher always makes herself available to talk to new parents informally. The smooth transition between home and school is of vital importance. Prospective parents are always welcome to ring for an appointment to visit the school.

As a school we appreciate knowing as early as possible if you need a place for your child. We recommend about the same time as when you apply for Nursery places. We have a limited number of places and need to plan ahead.
