Alumwell Infant School is a very happy school. There are places for 270 children and at present there are 263 on roll. 89 in Reception, 86 in Year 1 and 88 in Year 2. The school is situated adjacent to Junction 10 on the M6 motorway on the main Wolverhampton to Walsall Road. The majority of its multi ethnic population emanates from the Alumwell Estate and the Pleck Area of Walsall. There is a strong sense of community within the school and we have been described as having a “happy and contagious atmosphere. “ (Ofsted 1995)
Alumwell Infant School had another very successful OFSTED report in February 2005. Once again it highlighted the good progress made by the children, the wonderful happy ethos and the care and teaching of children with special needs. The school was also praised for its art work, which is celebrated both nationally and internationally.
We received a further three years recognition with Investors In People and in 2003 we won the Enterprise Business Partnership school award. We follow all National Curriculum Guidelines and enjoy considerable successes.
Reading and art are specialities. If you wish to view some of our art work you can visit the site it is being displayed, by clicking here. Our Art work for the Millennium is also on display.
We have enjoyed very pleasing reading results over a number of years. We have recently taken on board Ruth Miskin Literacy.
We also place a high emphasis on play and practical experiences. Our children and staff bubble with ENTHUSIASM.
Many members of our staff have been at the school for a very long time and work together as a team. Our high expectations of the children are reflected in their success.
Our children are encouraged to care and respect their school community and premises. We follow assertive discipline plans. Catching children being good is our motto.
