Parent Council

School Boards have now been replaced by Parent Councils. Last session a working group was set up produce the Constitution for the Parent Council. We now require to elect members of the Parent Council. According to the Constitution we are aiming for two parent representatives from each stage of the school, the commitment being approximately one formal meeting per term. To this end and to present the Constitution, a meeting of all parents (officially the Parent Forum of which all parents are members) has been arranged in school for 7pm on Thursday 30th August. We anticipate that the meeting will last for no more than 30 minutes after which P1 parents will be able to attend the event arranged for them at 7.30pm. The former school board and head teacher would be pleased to have a good turnout for this important matter. If, indeed, you cannot make this meeting but would be interested in serving on the Council, please get in touch with the head teacher.

Pupils' Council

Hi, this is the Pupil Council page and we want to make changes for the school to make it a better place. You can ask us if there is anything that you would like changed within the school or if would like to see something new introduced.

We have regular meetings usually on Wednesdays. We organise competitions, new equipment for the playground and other matters. Miss Cassells and Mrs Cook attend our meetings. After each meeting we go back to the class and report what was discussed.

    How to Contact Us

If you have any comments, please let us know.

1. You can leave a note in the Pupil Council Box that sits on the Pupil Council tables in the open area. We will get back to you as soon as possible.

2. You can speak to your Pupil Council Representative. S/he will discuss your idea at the next meeting.

CLUBS

There are numerous after school activities on offer, subject to the availability of teachers/coaches. These are listed below. The assistance of parents in pursuit of extra-curricular activities is always welcome and any parent who is able to use his or her talents or interests in this way will receive the full support of the school.

Please note the following:

  • Where a club is oversubscribed, priority will be given to the most senior classes involved in the club.

  • Where a child wishes to attend two clubs, but both are on the same evening, then a decision will require to be made as to which club to opt for.

  • Children should be certain of their commitment to a club before selecting this. It is most unfair when a child may have taken a place away from someone else and then has a poor attendance at a club and/or withdraws.

  • Parents are fully responsible for making arrangements for their children to get home at the end of a club. There will be no school crossing patrols on duty at club finishing times.

  •   Sometimes, due to unforeseen circumstances, a club may have to be cancelled at very short notice i.e. on the day of the club. It is not always possible to alert parents about this. Parents should ensure that their child knows what to do if this should happen and their child is dismissed at 3.15pm rather than stay to attend the club.
