Welcome to Our School!!!
At Ashton Middle School we pride ourselves on the opportunities and values which encourage all to fulfil their potential academically, spiritually and morally. We aim to develop in our pupils a sense of caring and concern for the welfare of others and as a Church of England School this is achieved in a Christian context.
Through a balanced curriculum we aim to provide the opportunity for pupils to develop lively, enquiring minds, to use language effectively and to appreciate and participate in the culture of our society.

Extra curricular activities play a large part in the life of the school. As the website develops we will include more information on the clubs, groups and activites which are available to our pupils.

The central position of a middle school in the three tier system means that liaison between the lower and upper tiers is essential. We aim at Ashton to build upon the work of the lower schools, developing and extending this, prior to entry to upper school.
Our OFSTED Inspection Report of 1998 stated that "The curriculum is impressively broad, balanced and relevant to the pupils and provides equality of opportunity for all pupils to succeed."
It is based upon the programmes of study laid down in the National Curriculum. Most subjects are taught in mixed ability tutor groups. However, the exceptions are Maths, French and Science which are set in some year groups and Design Technology in years 6, 7 and 8 where tutor groups are split into smaller classes. Some year 8 English and Drama and Year 5 Information Technology and Design Technology also benefit by being taught in half classes.
