ABOUT US

As a Church of England school St. Michael's provides an excellent education, giving a high priority to the spiritual development of all in the school community.

The potential and talents of each person are valued and developed within the Christian ethos of the school, reflecting our beliefs in the gospel message of trust, healing and forgiveness.

Through links with home and parish, St. Michael's School prepares children to fulfil their roles as members of the wider community.

AIMS

  • To develop lively and enquiring minds.
  • To provide the children with knowledge, understanding and skills.
  • To develop moral values; respect for religious values; for tolerance of other races, religions and cultures.
  • To enable each child to reach their full potential.
  • To help pupils to understand the world in which they live as well as their own responsibility within it.
  • To offer equality of opportunity to all pupils.
  • To encourage co-operation between school and home.

CURRICULUM

The National Curriculum sets out a clear, full and statutory entitlement to learning for all pupils. It determines the content of what will be taught, and sets attainment targets for learning. It also determines how performance will be assessed and reported.

An effective National Curriculum therefore gives teachers, pupils, parents, employers and their wider community a clear and shared understanding of the skills and knowledge that young people will gain at school. It allows schools to meet the individual learning needs of pupils and to develop a distinctive character and ethos rooted in their local communities. And it provides a framework within which all partners in education can support young people on the road to further learning.
