BADDOW HALL INFANT SCHOOL

'a happy

Welcome to Baddow Hall Infant School.  We are a successful and popular school and aim to provide an enjoyable, safe and pleasant environment where your child feels valued and high expectations result

in high standards.

We have a supportive and suitably qualified staff that work as a team to ensure children reach their full potential at our school.  We encourage full partnership between home and school and endeavour to ensure good communications between the whole school community.  Parents are welcome to talk to staff at any time but it is helpful if you are able to arrange an appointment.  Should you wish to see the school with a view to considering its suitability for your child, please telephone the school office to make an appointment.

We were judged by OFSTED in November 2003 as “a school where pupils' achievements are good and where children make good progress in the Reception classes because the teaching is consistently good.   By the end of Year 2, standards are above average in reading, writing and mathematics.  These standards are achieved owing to good leadership, good teaching and good provision for pupils who have special educational needs, which enables them to do equally well as other pupils.”……… (taken from OFSTED Summary Report).

ADMISSIONS

To secure a place for your child in the reception year of a primary or infant school for September 2008, you must complete the Common Application Form that you would have received from Essex County Council and return to Planning and Admissions by the date advised.

Even if you have previously applied directly to a school, or to the County Council, you still need to fill out a Common Application Form.  If you do not do so your preferences for a school place will not be considered.

You may use the Common Application Form to express preferences for a place at up to 3 schools but you will be offered a place at only one school, the highest preference that can be met.  You are strongly recommended to use all your preferences and to include your local school.  If none of your preferences can be met, a place will be offered at the nearest school to your child's home address with spaces available.

A copy of the booklet Primary Education in Essex 2007/08 is available from the school office and contains the admission policies for schools in your area.  It also contains further information about the co-ordinated admissions process and timescales involved etc.  These booklets are also available online at www.essexcc.gov.uk

or by calling 0845 6037627.
