ABOUT US

Children are individual and special. They are involved in and responsible for their own learning and conduct. Through team work the highest standards are expected and promoted for all. We value our partnership with parents and the community.

AIMS

  • To help pupils develop lively inquiring minds, and to the best of their ability to question and argue rationally and to apply themselves to tasks and physical skills;
  • To help pupils acquire knowledge and skills relevant to adult life in a fast changing world; To help pupils use language and numbers effectively;
  • To instil respect for religious and moral values, and tolerance of other races, religions and ways of life;
  • To help pupils understand the ways in which they live, and the interdependence of individuals, groups and nations;
  • To help pupils appreciate human achievements and aspirations.

CURRICULUM

Our staff will provide the best possible learning environment for your child and a variety of experiences and opportunities in order to develop his/her full potential.

When children begin school, they become part of the Foundation Stage. From the age of 5, children progress to Key Stage 1 and later to Key Stage 2. The school delivers the National Curriculum which consists of the core subjects, foundation subjects and also Religious Education, which is a legal requirement. Parents have a legal right to request that their child be withdrawn from lessons in Religious Education or from acts of collective worship, but this must be arranged in consultation with the Headteacher.

EXTRA-CURRICULAR

There are many opportunities for children to join in lunchtime or after school activities. This year these have included football, cricket, rounders, netball, craft, brass band, recorders, choir, modern dance and country dancing. As you can see we have a wide variety of different activities which appeal to many different children. These may vary from year to year according to the commitments of our teaching staff, but all these activities are an invaluable part of our school life, which provide unique opportunities for your children.
