Bayble School

The most important processes taking place in our school are effective Learning and Teaching. Learning is the most important outcome of what happens in school and teaching is the principal means by which learning is brought about. It is important to foster an environment where learning can be enjoyed and staff and pupils can learn together.

A Curriculum for Excellence
`A Curriculum for Excellence` sets out the Scottish Executive’s vision for transforming Scottish education by 2007.

EXTRA-CURRICULAR

MONDAY

MELODEON CLUB
Melodeon club is at 4.00pm - 5.00pm and is available for Pupils from P3 - S2 and is with Mr Calum Mackay. There will be 30 minutes homework club before the melodeon club begins.

FOOTBALL

Football club is run by our Janitor Extraordinaire - Mr Alec Wright. He is the Goalkeeper for Point and has a few hints and tips to teach keen footballers. This club is available for children in P1-2 and will be on from 4.00pm - 5.00pm.


TUESDAY


MINI MOTIVATE

Mini Motivate is a club which is run at lunchtime by parent helpers Julie Leslie and Debbie McClements. Mini Motivate is available to P1-2 pupils where they will be involved in learning and playing new games and also partaking in sport activities.

BADMINTON CLUB

Badminton Club is available to pupils in S1/2 and children compete against one another in an in-house league. Pupils also get the opportunity to compete against Back in a Broadbay competition. Mr Maclean will be taking this club and there will be 30 minutes homework before the club.


WEDNESDAY

SCRIPTURE UNION
Scripture Union meets every Wednesday in Room 2 at 1.00pm with Alison Macdonald and Christine Cumming. Scripture Union is open to pupils from P6-S2. At this club, children take part in various activities and learn about the Bible and The Teachings of Jesus.

RECORDER CLUB
Recorder Club is available for P2 and is run by Mrs Devine. The club will have 30 minutes study before they start learning notes and tunes.

BASKETBALL CLUB

Basketball Club will begin on Wednesday 5th December and is a new club at Bayble School for S1/2. The pupils will get extra practice at Basketball in preparation for entering into the Lewis and Harris Sports festival. This club will be run by Mr Smith and Mrs Macphail will also do 30 minutes homework club.

UNIHOC CLUB

Unihoc Club is on every Wednesday from 4.00 - 5.00pm with Mrs Macphail and Mr D.J Smith. Unihoc is available for pupils from Primary 6 - Secondary 2. The teams are mixed and pupils work and play together in friendly competitions. Children who participate in the Unihoc Club are then entered into the Lewis and Harris Sports Festival....usually achieving good results. There will be 3o minutes homework before the club begins.

INTERNET CLUB

The Internet Club will be led by Mrs Macleod and is available to pupils from P3-P7. This will give pupils the opportunity to research topics on the internet to help with their class work.


THURSDAY


CHRISTMAS CARD MAKING
A popular Club...back by demand!!! This club will begin on the 15th November and will last for four weeks only. It is available for pupils in P3-P7 and is run by Mrs Martin and parent helper Mrs Leslie.

PUPIL COUNCIL
Bayble Pupil Council is made up of a group of children from P1 - S2. The Council members are chosen democratically through class elections. They meet regularly with Mrs Macphail to discuss improvements to the school, organise charity appeals and contribute to school development.
