Welcome to Benson Community School
Head Teacher Mrs Rindl
Benson is a member of the Handsworth Consortium of Schools. The school is one of the oldest in the area and has been here since the 1800s. Currently there are 11 classes based in the main school building. Our Nursery is housed in a separate purpose build building. The school is very fortunate to have a large playing field and three playgrounds. Within school we have brand new ICT suite and each classroom has an interactive whiteboard.
Our school is part of a lively, multi-ethnic community. We believe that parents are our partners. To help our partnership we provide community activities and adult education opportunities at school. Children spend only 15% of their time in school and 85% at home. Therefore, what YOU do is very important. Please keep us informed about things that are affecting your child in school and please work with us. Your views are welcome! Tell us or the Governors about your ideas!
Deputy Head
Children who are loved and encouraged, who are brought up to be polite, well disciplined, independent and able to respect themselves and others, have a good start! Tired, worried, hungry or upset children are disadvantaged.
Our school has proved to be an excellent school. We are one of the top 10 schools in the country for the progress our children make. Our very good Ofsted report can be seen at www.ofsted.gov.uk/reports or downloaded by clicking on the download report in the menu. We offer a wide range of opportunities for our pupils including specialist teachers for music, science and PE.
Remember, there are no limits to what you can achieve here at Benson!
