Berrynarbor, EX34 9SE Ilfracombe

We are a relatively small school in North Devon, near Combe Martin serving the villages of Berrynarbor and East Down and pupils also travel from other nearby towns and villages.

We aim to foster enthusiasm, confidence and a zest for life and learning.

Mission Statement

We aim to keep challenging ourselves to meet the needs of every individual and to provide opportunity for all.

What do our oldest pupils think of their school reflecting back on their
time with us?

Florence - “I like all the new playtime toys. I like the Interactive Whiteboards”.

Simon - “I’m glad we keep bullying out of this school. I like the attention of the staff”.

William - “I like the story books we have”.

Harley - “I like helping the younger children. I like the students who come in”.

Nathaniel -“I like the staff they are not like other schools. They are nice to you. We have really good school trips. We have lots of books”.

Rocky - “It’s tidy and there’s no litter. I like the environment”.

Mission Statement

Our School Values - What do we do well?

  • We aim to foster enthusiasm, confidence and a zest for life and learning.
  • We provide a broad and balanced education addressing the needs of the National Curriculum enriched by arts, drama and music.
  • We believe that this school encourages a sense of wonder and consideration for the world around.
  • We encourage praise wherever possible. We celebrate success.
  • At this school we celebrate the Christian faith.
  • We encourage and actively promote positive links between school and parents, and the school and the community.
  • We learn to value others by being valued ourselves, whoever we are. We are expected to maintain a naturally high code of conduct regarding manners and behaviour.
  • We aim to ensure equal opportunities for all children. We actively encourage a generous and tolerant attitude to others. We understand that cultural diversity, race and gender equality are important fundamentals of good citizenship.
  • Berrynarbor aims to create a warm, caring environment in which all the children and adults are able to reach their full potential both individually and collectively.
