Bolham Community Primary School
Bolham, EX16 7RA Tiverton
01884 253576

Welcome to Bolham Community Primary School!

Our small, rural school is situated in the village of Bolham, which lies close to the River Exe approximately one mile from the mid-Devon market town of Tiverton. We are fortunate enough to be within stepping distance of some of the most beautiful countryside in Devon. The present school building dates from 1889 and is a pleasant Victorian stone building further enhanced by the addition of two new classrooms in 2003.

Our catchment area serves over 22 square miles of Devon countryside covering the villages of Calverleigh, Chettiscombe, Chevithorne, Loxbeare, Lurley, Templeton, Washfield and Bolham and including parts of Withleigh, Cove and Tiverton.

Aims & Values

The following aims are the foundation on which the whole school's development for the future will be built:

  • to raise academic standards
  • to develop the children's ability to think
  • to help children communicate in a variety of ways
  • to heighten the children's own aspirations and provide them with role models
  • to help pupils recognise their roles and responsibilities in the care of the environment
  • to help pupils develop self respect and respect for others

Friends of Bolham School (FOBS)

The Friends of Bolham School (FOBS) is a charitable organisation and is run by an enthusiastic group of staff, parents and local members of the community. We are always happy to welcome new members.

Meetings are very informal and friendly and are normally held once or twice a term. Our main aim is to raise funds and provide practical support for the School. Our funds enable the School to purchase extra equipment to support the curriculum, but we often use the Friends as a forum for discussion of any topic from Literacy to nits!

Fund raising activities are held regularly throughout the year and have, to date, included silent auctions, treasure hunts, jumble sales, an annual fete, Christas Fayres and Easter bingo. We also organise social events for fun, for example discos and barbecues.

Over the years the Friends have raised a considerable amount of money, which has been used to further inrich the children's education and it is hoped that, with the support of parents and members of the community, we may continue to do so.
