Bosvigo School is a Group 2 School and has approximately 290 children on roll. It is one of five Schools in the Truro City area and is the School situated within sight of Truro Cathedral and a stone’s throw from the station.

It is a compact site which has been developed in stages since it was originally built in January 1898. The ‘Main Block’ (1898) is a two storey building with five classrooms, a Learning Support Room, stock room and toilets. The ‘The Sixties Block’ (1960’s) is a flat roofed structure which has the Early Years area – two classrooms, activity area and toilets - library/computer suite, hall and toilets. There is attached a kitchen where meals are prepared and eaten in the adjacent hall.

The ‘Single Classroom’ (1953) is a concrete building, with its own toilet block, which is connected to the main school by a covered walkway. The ‘Kitchen’ (1930’s) was the old kitchen area and now houses our staffroom.

The ‘New Block’ (2002), houses two classrooms, our reception area, offices, toilets and connecting corridors to other parts of the school. There are three playgrounds: One for our Early Years children at the front of the school. (Connected to it is a covered area that enables its use at all times). Another play area is for the KS1 children and another used by the older children.

There is a small field on site which will be used for games and at playtimes, when weather permits. The school has the use of a nearby field which is used for football and other games needing more space. Visitors and the youngest children use the main entrance in to school which is through the car park. Entry is accessed through the security gate. All other children use the Chapel Hill gate at the beginning and end of every day. During the day this gate is kept locked.

School Uniform

In agreement with parents, governors and staff, the following voluntary uniform was set in place from the beginning of the Academic Year 1997/98.

The School Colour is Royal Blue.

Shirt                           

White, long or short sleeve, with standard collar or white polo shirt.

Royal blue, with logo, available from the School.  Cost: £8.50

Fleece                       

Royal blue, with logo, available from the School.  Cost £11.00

Trousers                 

Grey for girls and boys.

Skirt                            

Grey in winter, blue gingham dress in the summer.

T-shirt                       

White, for P.E. and games.

Shorts                       

Black, for P.E. and games.

Shoes                        

Black, with low heels, and preferably not trainers.

Hat                               

Swimming caps for the pool are available from the School.  Cost: £1.00

P.E. Bag                   

Draw string type for P.E. kit.

Book Bag                

Navy blue, with logo, available from the School.  Cost: £3.50

The School Secretary, with support from F.O.B.S.A., (the Friends Of Bosvigo School Association), is responsible for the items we sell. Regular orders are made and all enquiries should be directed to her. There is also a selection of second hand uniform available for sale.

Please NAME ALL OF YOUR CHILD’S BELONGINGS, so that they can be returned easily if they are lost. The P.E. kit in a draw string bag makes it is easy to take home at the weekend for washing.

For Health and Safety reasons we ask parents to ensure that children do not wear necklaces and that earrings are stud type only. We also ask that children only bring watches to school when they are in Years 5 and 6. For playtimes, many children bring toys to school.

This is acceptable providing they are small, can fit into a bag easily and are the responsibility of the child. We would anticipate that parents would not allow their child to bring toy guns and knives to school.

We would also ask that no mobile phones are brought to school.
