WELCOME TO OUR SCHOOL!!!

Bovington First School is a school that caters for children from Reception up to Year 4. School begins at 9:00am and finishes at 3:15, although many clubs and activities do continue after these times.

Our warm and friendly school ensures that all children are valued as individuals, and encouraged to develop their full potential through a range of good quality educational experiences.

To support teaching and learning in all subjects, high quality resources have been purchased and continual training and development is provided for all Teaching and Support Staff.

AIMS

  • To tailor the curriculum to individual needs and abilities
  • To offer a wide range of learning experiences
  • To inspire life long learning
  • To develop a happy, caring and safe environment
  • To encourage good behaviour
  • To celebrate and encourage everyone?s talents
  • To foster independence, confidence and responsibility
  • To value and respect everyone as individuals
  • To work in partnership with parents and the community

CURRICULUM

The Curriculum comprises all the work that children learn and experience in school. It not only covers the subjects of the National Curriculum, including Literacy, Numeracy and Religious Education, but also includes activities to help children in their personal and social development as members of society. In the reception year, children follow the Curriculum for the Foundation Stage.

The Core subjects of the National Curriculum are English, Mathematics, Science and Information and Communication Technology (ICT) together with Religious Education. The Foundation subjects are Art, Design and Technology, Geography, History, Music and Physical Education.

EXTRA-CURRICULAR

Our children benefit greatly from the range of extra-curricular activities, which the Staff organise and run after school. Almost all the children attend at least two clubs during the year. The following clubs are offered at varying times:

  • Music
  • Orienteering
  • Football
  • Athletics
  • Tennis
  • ICT
  • Art and craft
  • Rounders
  • Gardening
  • Circus skills
  • French
Letters will be sent home to inform parents and children when the activities will take place. After school activities require written parental permission before a pupil may be registered to attend.
