Welcome to Bridlington School Sports College
Bridlington School Sports College is in the process of transforming itself into a very fine school. We emerged from special measures on 1st March 2007 after two years of sustained effort. Significant improvements in teaching and learning are now having an impact on student progress and we anticipate a step change in exam performance in the summer.
Whilst I would not wish special measures on any school, the focus on the quality of teaching and learning it brought with it has been a force for good across the school, driving improvements which have been extensive and impressive.
We have reached a point where a proud tradition of successful teaching and learning at the school can once again be realised. The school has a purposeful feel to it, our student body is a vast reservoir of untapped potential and our staff have developed wide ranging expertise the envy of colleagues elsewhere. The school has a renewed sense of purpose, facing the future with confidence, sure of itself and its strengths and the contribution it can make to the lives of the students and families it serves.
We aim to provide an education that will maximum achievement for every student both within the timetabled curriculum and beyond. Our extra-curricular activities provide extensive opportunities, particularly in sport and music. Our Combined Cadet Force is unique, engaging over 120 students in purposeful structured activities every week.
Our Pastoral Care provision is designed to ensure that every student has at least one adult they can confide in, whilst monitoring, supporting and guiding their progress. Our curriculum programme provides a range of appropriate pathways for different interests, aptitudes and abilities.
Post sixteen provision is a growing strength of the school and offers students a wide range of courses and opportunities. Sixth Form students work well with other students, particularly with Year 7 and their reading and with Year 11 as mentors.
Specialist Status as a Sports College has had a significant impact on the life of the school, with benefits to results, the quality of teaching and staff professional development and it makes a major contribution to the extra-curricular and community life of the school.
I hope our website is interesting and informative. It is intended to provide a flavour of what our school is like. If you are interested in us, either as a parent, student or prospective staff member and you would like further information we would be pleased to hear from you. If you would like to visit the school, do telephone for an appointment.
Headteacher - Mr John Wilson

School Vision Statement
Our school is an inclusive community where people love learning, are happy and confident, are excited by achievement and recognised for success.
Our values are centred on respect; for ourselves for each other for the environment and on trusting relationships.
We try to ensure that everything we do is based on our values and have the ambition that every member of the community is inspired by our vision. |

Our Aims
The school aims to:-
• Create a caring environment.

Underlying Core Purpose
Every student is an individual with specific needs. Staff therefore need to know as much as possible about each student in order to provide the curriculum, teaching and support that they need to make progress. |
