Undergraduate Accommodation
More than 25 miles away?
We’ll guarantee you a room in your first year.
One of the best aspects of becoming a student at BCUC is the opportunity to live independently. Moving away from home can be fun, but it can also take a little getting used to. The easiest way to adapt to your new way of life is to live in halls of residence or accommodation provided by BCUC.
We guarantee that all full-time, first-year students now living outside a 25-mile radius of High Wycombe will receive an offer of a room. If, however, you live within 25 miles of the BCUC, our friendly and helpful accommodation team will do their best to find you suitable housing locally – whether in halls or local privately owned houses. You’ll find that each of our three campuses has a friendly atmosphere, excellent facilities and plenty going on, but we can’t guarantee that your accommodation will be in exactly the same area as your place of study.
Safe and Secure Accommodation
Properties within our ‘Head Tenancy’ Scheme are rented by the University College from private individuals, companies or housing associations, meaning that BCUC is your landlord.
We pride ourselves on providing a safe and secure environment in which to study and live. There’s a Senior Resident Scheme, both in halls and Head Tenancy properties, where second or third year students help newcomers to settle in. The Senior Residents can offer support and advice, as well as information about halls, local facilities and services.
For more details of the hall options at our different campuses, please visit the Accommodation Service section of our website, altenatively telephone us on 01494 551057 or 01494 551058 or contact us via email.
Free Bus Service – Campus Link
There’s a free bus service between our campuses at Chalfont, Wellesbourne and High Wycombe – allowing you the opportunity to use all of our facilities to the full. It may also help you to find part-time employment slightly further afield.

Postgraduate Accommodation
Chalfont Campus
Here you will find 700 self-catering single rooms all with washing facilities, and some with en-suite facilities. If you can't cook, won't cook then you can eat in the Refectory, with itsmulti-channel satellite TV system. We now offer internet access in all rooms. There is a shop on campus which caters for your immediate needs at reasonable prices, but for astocking up BCUC runs a bus to Tesco's every day. If you are driving by the time you come to University you can bring a car, as there is plenty of parking available.
High Wycombe Campus
Brook Street Halls can accommodate 400 first year students with single study-bedroom flats for five-ten students. The bedrooms now have Internet access. The Halls are about 5 minutes’ walk from the main campus and town centre. There are also 100 study bedrooms for first-year students at John North Hall, where you will share kitchens, bathrooms andcommunal lounge. There are three internet access points/PC’s in communal rooms at John North Halls, accessible twenty four hours a day. If you are keen on sport then youcan make use of the Wycombe Sports Centre immediately opposite the Halls. The Student Refectory on the main campus is open early for breakfast. There is no car parking available at these campuses.
Head Tenancy Scheme
All University College-managed halls are reserved for single BCUC students only. If you prefer to live in a house rather than halls you will need to attend one of our 'Meet and Greet' days, organised by the Accommodation Service. Here you can meet other students and choose a house from those available. All our properties are well maintained and inspected regularly by the Accommodation Service. All our properties are accredited by Wycombe District Council.
Private Sector Housing
There are a large number of suitable properties in the private sector. Details of these are available from the Accommodation Service. Married students or students with children will be offered every assistance in finding accommodation in the private sector by our Accommodation Service.
Senior Residents
At both campuses and houses on the Head Tenancy Scheme, we have a team of Senior Residents, who will be available to help you settle in and adjust to your new way of life.
Eligibility for Halls
If you live within a 25-mile radius of High Wycombe you are not eligible to be housed in halls at High Wycombe in the first instance, but you can apply via a waiting list after the beginning of term. Also, of all the High Wycombe students eligible to live in halls, only 70% can be allocated a room at High Wycombe. Therefore, you are asked to consider living at Chalfont Campus, which is approximately 12 miles from High Wycombe. This is particularly suitable for students studying at Wellesbourne Campus who have transport, although there is a University College bus service between all campuses.
