Literacy
- Developing the skills of reading fluently and accurately
- Encouraging the enjoyment of different types of reading material
- Developing the skills of writing appropriately for a variety of occasions and purposes
- Developing a legible style of handwriting and good standards of spelling and punctuation
- Encouraging clear and confident communication through speech
Numeracy
- Raising an awareness of the use of Mathematics in everyday situations
