We aim for excellence and the highest possible standards for all our pupils. We undertake to include in our approach all those activities which promote moral, social, spiritual, cultural, physical, intellectual and emotional development.

A variety of teaching and learning methods is used, with an emphasis on differentiated interactive whole-class teaching. Children are set targets for reading, writing and maths and progress is monitored regularly. We use Assessment for Learning techniques, so that children gain an understanding of what a ‘good’ piece of work should look like and know how to improve their work. Children are provided with opportunities to apply their learning through problem solving and collaborative working.

The curriculum is differentiated to take account of children with SEN. This can take the form of extension work for Able, Gifted and Talented pupils or work broken down into smaller steps for children with learning difficulties.

Children in the Foundation Stage follow their own programme of study, whereas from Y1, pupils follow the National Curriculum which comprises both core subjects (English, Mathematics, Science and ICT) and foundation subjects (History, Geography, Art and design, Music, Physical Education and Design and Technology), together with Religious Education and Personal, Social and Health Education. A Modern Foreign Language (currently French) is introduced in KS2.

We offer a variety of extra-curricular activities, both after school and at dinner times. These include sports activities such as High Fives, rounders, tri-golf, keep fit, cross-country, football – some of which are run by school staff and others by volunteers or coaches provided through the sports partnership. We also offer other activities such as computer club, choir and art club. Representatives from local ministries also offer a Monday Club, spreading the Christian message through games and other activities. All our clubs are currently free of charge.
