CAVENDISH CLOSE INFANT SCHOOL
About Us
Cavendish Close Infant and Nursery School is a community school working in partnership with the Local Education Authority, Derby City.
It is not affiliated to any particular religious denomination, and so caters for all children between the ages of three and seven years.
Built in 1953 and with subsequent developments, the school is set in large grounds that are shared with Cavendish Close Junior School. Operating between the main site and an annexe (each with their own play area) the school has 10 mainstream classrooms and a nursery school with 39 places. The school also has a purpose built dining room, a central library and an assembly hall which is used to teach physical education.
Planned for the future is an ICT suite which will become the centre of the schools computer based learning strategy.
The playgrounds are cheerfully decorated with large grass areas, and the Nursery has its own self-contained play area. With the aid of the Prince's Trust we have been able to create a safe garden for the older children to use.
As the safety of our children is foremost in our minds, both buildings have key code locks and the doors are watched by closed circuit television.
We welcome visits to our school, if you would like to look around please contact the school and we will endeavour to find a mutually convenient appointment for you. The school brochure is also available on request.
School Aim
The overriding aim of Cavendish Close Infant and Nursery School is to provide a stimulating, caring and secure environment in order to enrich the lives of our children. This in turn will enable them to achieve their full potential.
We are committed to a broad, balanced curriculum, promoting the intellectual, physical, moral and social development of our children. A curriculum which provides all children in our care with a firm foundation of learning, on which they can continue to build.
