School Board Mrs Russell updated us on progress with the new Parental Involvement Bill and informed us of an upcoming meeting for parents on 2nd May at school. Mrs Russell hoped that as many parents as possible would come along to this meeting to find out about options for the new Chapel of Garioch School Parent Council. If you can not make the meeting please feel free to contact Mrs Russell for more information on the Parent Council.
School Trip A trip to Blair Drummond Safari Park is being considered for the older children (P5 to P7). It is thought that the trip will cost approximately £18 per child and it was suggested parents could be asked to pay a proportion of this equivalent to the park entry, whilst the PTA pay the transportation costs.
Health Week It was agreed that Health week was a great success last year but that some of the activities were quite costly and couldn’t be repeated every year. This year health week will be the week beginning 11th June. Proposed activities are: Yoga, Jazzercise, skipping games, health snacks and orienteering. A design a smoothie competition was suggested. If anybody has any other ideas please contact Mrs Russell. Jump rope for Heart will also take place around this time.
School Fair The Spring Fair will be on Saturday 12th May. All the usual stalls are planned but please note that whilst good quality toys and books are very welcome please don’t send in bric a brac or jumble. Now is a good time to come up with an idea for the silent auction. Services such as cooking, ironing, gardening etc often attract big bids as did the holiday kindly donated last year.
Chapel Ads Courtney reported a disappointing lack of items to include in Chapel Ads but it was decided to keep it going for a few more months with the hope that the number of items for sale will increase.
Orienteering Course Mrs Russell has details of an Orienteering course in the Meldrum area on 23, 28 and 30 April. If anyone is interested please see her for more details.
Health Promoting Group Courtney O’Grady and Donna McNally agreed to be the parent volunteers in this group.
Football Training Football training will resume on a Sunday Afternoon at the start of the Easter term – a note will be sent out.
Willow Sculpture Mrs Russell will find out what we need to do to keep the sculpture healthy and tidy. |
