Welcome to Charlotte Infant and Nursery School
Our school, originally built in 1971, replaced an older building on another site. This old school was called Holy Trinity School. Charlotte School is not a Church School but we maintain close links with Holy Trinity Church in a wide variety of ways throughout the year. As we have grown, more classrooms have been added to cope with the increasing number of children in the area. The nursery provision was opened in 1979 and has spaces for 60 pupils attending on a part time basis. The Nursery is joined onto the main building but has its own playground and a separate entrance off the main school entrance.
The school's admission policy/information for parents can be down loaded from the link below or can be obtained directly from the school.

Our School Aim Within a friendly, safe environment, and in partnership with you, the parents, this school aims to enable all children to reach their full potential, and thus prepare them academically and socially for their future roles within the community.

Admission Policy Parents who are considering sending a child to this school and would like to visit are welcome to call during the school day. It is, however, advisable to telephone for an appointment to ensure the Headteacher is available.
The Nursery is a 60-place unit and children attend on a part time basis. Children may be registered when they are two years old. Parents will be contacted when a place becomes available and children will usually be admitted in September or January. Nursery places are allocated according to the Governor's Admission Policy and the Local Authority's advice for admission to Early Years Education in their 'Parent's Information Booklet' (both available in School) Parents will be invited to an information meeting before their child starts the Nursery. Parents and children will be able to make a series of visits to ensure a happy start in the Nursery.
For admission to the Infant School, children born between September 1st and April 30th will be admitted in September at the start of the Autumn Term. Children born between May 1st and August 31st will be admitted in January at the start of the Spring Term. All parents who wish their child to attend this School must complete an application form, which is available from the School. This requirement applies to all children including those who will transfer from the Nursery and those who live outside the area served by this School. The application process is now managed by Derbyshire LEA and all completed forms should be returned to them at Matlock. Any parent whose child has been refused a school place for which they have applied, has the right to an independent appeal. The Published Admission Number for the school is 70 Before starting school, parents and children will be invited to an information meeting with the Headteacher and Early Infant Unit teachers. Children will make several visits to meet their teacher and see their teaching area.

Welcome to F R O C S
Friends Of Charlotte School
FROCS (Friends of Charlotte School) is a group of parents who organise fund raising events for the school. These are focused around 2 major events, a Christmas Fair and a Summer Fair. Both occasions attract a large number of families and raise significant amounts of money. This money is spent on equipment that the school would not usually be able to afford – most recently new climbing frames for the nursery and the school hall.
Next event: Summer Fair, Wednesday 4 July 2007 |
