ABOUT US

The school specialises in children with communication, emotional and behavioral difficulties and effectively provides for the education and well being of children with moderate learning difficulties in the 4-11 age range. First and foremost we are a child-centered school. We provide individual educational programmes and have a first-class residential area for children who need this additional support.

Our success stems from our commitment to an extended developmental curriculum and from our wide experience in providing high quality education.

Our greatest resource is the dedicated and hardworking multi-disciplinary staff team who always ’go the extra mile’ . In our concern to meet the needs of the ‘whole child’  parents are frequently consulted and involved in decision-making.

A child at Chiltern Gate is never just ‘one of the crowd’ , but is known as an individual by the teachers, care staff, support assistants, voluntary workers, canteen staff, office staff, site manager and other professionals who work together as a team.

FAQ

How will you know how your child is getting on?

All our pupils have statements of special educational needs. Each year you will receive an annual review report and you will be invited into school to discuss this and review your child’s needs.  There are two parent’s evenings each year and you are welcome to visit the school at anytime, by appointment, and discuss your child’s progress.

How can you help your child?

Your child will bring a book home to share and read with you.  Sometimes there will be speech therapy or physical exercises which we will ask you to do at home.  As they get older they might bring home some homework. The school has a Parent’s Association, Friends of Chiltern Gate, and we would value your support.

What about uniform?

We have smart emerald green sweatshirts and yellow polo shirts with the school logo which can be obtained at a
reasonable cost from the school office.  There is also a simple school P.E. kit which all pupils are encouraged to wear.
