Welcome ...

To us and to everyone involved in Cleve House, our school is much more than simply somewhere for children to gain an excellent educational start in life, important though that is.

Children who come here are encouraged to develop essential personal and interpersonal skills to gain the self confidence they will need to deal with life in an increasingly demanding world. Our stable, caring environment also nurtures respect and consideration for others - vital aspects, we believe, in preparing young minds for society.

Ours is a relatively small school where every child is treated as an individual, where young minds are encouraged to develop and where the very best of traditional teaching methods are maintained.

Cleve House not only has an unparalleled track record of gaining scholarships for secondary education amongst Bristol's leading schools; the children who go on from our school are balanced, confident, compassionate young people.

History ...

The School was established in its present home in 1948. At one time Cleve House had boarding facilities, but these have been turned into additional classrooms as the demand for places has steadily grown.

In 1992 a kindergarten facility was added: a converted family house two doors away, providing a sound start to the educational process in a welcoming, "non-institutional" environment. Today, approximately 160 children between the ages of 2+ and 11 are taught in the school.

In 2003, Cleve House School aquired the neighbouring building which has now become an extension of the main school, offering extra facilities both inside and out.

Admittance ...

The majority of children enter Cleve House at the kindergarten stage following a personal interview with the Headmistress. Occasionally vacancies do occur in other years throughout the school.

Fees are payable on the first day of each term and a term's written notice to withdraw from school is required, or fees in lieu of such notice.

The school works from 8.55am - 3.00pm with suitable lunch and comfort breaks.

Details of late stay facility are available upon request. Children should bring packed lunches and break-time snacks and drinks.

Lunches and playtime - including the time before the start of school (from 8.30am) - are always supervised.

The year is punctuated with book fairs, concerts, a carol service and educational visits. The school year ends in July with prize day - the culmination of all the childrens hard work!
