Welcome to Coppice Performing Arts School where we are committed to

providing an education of the highest quality to all our students

We are proud of our record in helping students achieve success, and the achievements of all our students are always recognised and celebrated. This culture of achievement is, i believe, one of the strengths of the school.

The school was granted specialist school status in the Performing Arts from September 2003. We are fully committed to provide enhanced opportunities for not only our own students but also pupils in neighboring schools and members of the wider community, to develop skills, knowledge and expertise in the subjects of dance, drama and music. The achievements of the ARTSMARK GOLD award in June 2005 is further evidence of our commitment to excellence in the arts.

Apart from improved performing arts resources, our general educational facilities are extensive and regularly refurbished. In addition, our school-wide computer network, is constantly upgraded to meet the latest specification, such as the use of wireless and interactive whiteboard technologies.

Most important however, is the happy, orderly and disciplined environment that exists in the school and the purposeful teaching and learning that goes on because of it.

Please visit us and become part of the thriving, dynamic learning partnership, which is Coppice Performing Arts School.

Introducing the school's Management and Leadership Team:

  • Mr R. Rossides – Headteacher
  • Ms S. Kennedy – Deputy Headteacher
  • Mrs L. Frost – Assistant Headteacher
  • Mr S. Clifton – Assistant Headteacher
  • Miss M. Gannon – Assistant Headteacher

Learning support is offered to all students irrespective of their academic ability. The extra tuition and support given ranges from assistance with basic skills

to arranging suitable working conditions for those not able to participate in the full range of school activities because of illness or injury. Students will

generally receive support within the normal classroom situation but may, if necessary, be withdrawn from lessons.

The school is able to cater for students with a range of specific learning difficulties and physical disabilities. We can also call on specialist help and

advice from the Authority's Special Needs Support Team.

The School's Special Educational Needs Policy based on the code of practice for S.E.N and a guide for parents on Special

Educational Needs is available on request from the school.

Learning Resources Centre:

This area caters specifically for those students with moderate learning difficulties who have been statemented by the LEA. Specialist staff accompany them to some mainstream lessons, where they can give support and reassurance.

Students also receive help in very small groups for the basic level skills of English and Maths, according to individual needs.

Those who show the ability and confidence to cope with mainstream education are gradually integrated into appropriate sets, while still remaining under the overall care and supervision of the Learning Resource Centre staff.
