The University has constantly worked to enhance learning and teaching through appropriate use of new technologies. This led to our pioneering implementation of a fully integrated, institution-wide online learning environment (WebCT) in 1999.
WebCT is the worlds' most widely used Virtual Learning Environment (VLE) and Coventry University is the biggest UK user. In 2000 the University was awarded the status of "WebCT Institute" for its commitment and excellence in online learning. All of the University's students and courses are set up to use the online learning environment.
We are committed to promoting a student-centred and caring approach to learning; to responding flexibly and innovatively to demand, on and off campus, from students and employers; and to creating a culture of innovation and inquiry in learning and teaching.
An on-line demonstration of WebCT at Coventry University is available (sound necessary).
Our latest figures show the extent of adoption across the University has reached over 90% active usage in some subject areas. This achievement has been aided by the work of our team of Teaching Fellows and other local experts in online learning.
The awards of our three National Teaching Fellows are testimony to their achievements in the application of online methods in their teaching.
As part of our commitment to continuous improvement of our student experience, we are piloting the implementation of Vista 4.0, the next generation in learning technology, across the University.
One of the great advantages of WebCT at Coventry University is that you can access your e-learning materials through the Internet. This means that learning can be tailored to your own needs in the most flexible way. Your e-modules are available 24/7 through the Internet.
If you live in any of our University-owned accommodation access is free through ReziNet.
If you are already studying at Coventry University and wish to log in, please use the WebCT link in Current Students.
