"As a village school Crays Hill Primary provides a nurturing environment, enhancing a child`s natural desire to learn. We encourage children`s confidence and their own belief that they can reach their full potential in everything they do. We foster friendships inside and outside school, valuing working in partnership with all."

ABOUT US

The school is set in a rural location as can be seen from this view across the road.
We have lovely grounds including a large playing field. Staffing, like other schools includes the headteacher, teachers, learning support assistants, office staff, and caretaker. Our Governing Body includes several long-standing governors who know the school well.
We hope to encourage children to develop lively, enquiring minds. We also want the children to feel valued as individuals and provide a curriculum which is broad, balanced and relevant. This picture shows our pleasant library facilities.
Our hall is large and spacious and has recently had a wonderful mural painted on it.
The Foundation stage has an outside play area which is securely fenced off for safety. There are hard and grassy play areas and a variety of play equipment.
We have a computer suite with 11 networked computers. Along with at least one networked computer in each classroom, we are well set for preparing the children for taking part in the technological age.

CLASS PAGES

Foundation class

Our aim is to ensure that the child's first school experience is a happy one. We recognise the importance of play and place it at the heart of the childrens' learning. We are well resourced and activities are planned to make full use of the outdoor and indoor environment.

Class 1/2

Years 1 and 2 meet in a very large room that has three computers. The room, which was the original schoolroom, has a lot of stimulating display areas. The National Curriculum is followed within an active learning environment.

Class 3/4

Years 3 and 4 move into the Key Stage 2 side of the school. All children throughout the school have work set for them that is at their particular level of ability, whatever their age may be.

Class 5/6

Years 5 and 6 are also taught in a large and spacious room. The children are given more independence and this enables them to develop thinking skills and to be prepared for the transfer to secondary school.
