Creunant Primary School [OS Map Ref:SN794053] was built in 1912 and is located in the Dulais Valley approximately six miles north-east of Neath. The school has 102 full-time and 16 part-time pupils between the ages of 3 and 11 years.  There is also a 'Playgroup' and a 'Parent and Toddler Group' which meet on the school premises.

The School badge shows three landmarks in the village of Crynant. The trees on the mountainside depict the Forest Commission woodlands to the south and west of the village. The river is the Afon Dulais which flows into the Afon Nedd at Aberdulais Falls. The colliery winding gear represents the former Cefn Coed colliery which was once one of the deepest coal mines in South Wales and is now the site of a mining museum.

To the west of Crynant is the mountain known as Mynydd Marchywel and to the east is the Roman Road known as Sarn Helen which was the major line of communication for Rome between Neath (Nidum) in South Wales and Caernarfon (Segontium) in the North.
