The School was opened in 1907 and is a grade 2 listed building. There are six classrooms, a hall, library, administration offices, resources room and staff room. The hall is used for daily assembly, physical education, and at dinner time. There is a large playground and a small garden, which the children use as part of their environmental work in Science and Geography. In our recent Ofsted Inspection (January 2007) the school was recognised as providing an "outstanding" education - in fact, we were graded as Outstanding in all areas. We are all very proud of this achievement, especially as it comes in our Centenary Year. |

2004 We have been awarded the Basic Skills Agency Quality Mark
Basic Skills are reading and writing (Literacy) and using numbers (Numeracy). The Basic Skills Agency gives the Quality mark to a school that meets 10 elements, including providing staff training, working with parents, provision of high quality resources, using various teaching methods to aid learning and excellent assessment of all children's needs. We are very proud of achieving this award! |
2005 We have been awarded the Derbyshire Health Promoting Schools Award for providing a safe and healthy environment to work and play in. Our toilets are clean and nicely decorated with clear signs about handwashing and tidiness. Our playground is a fun and exciting place to be in and we have worked hard to provide toys and activities for playtime and lunchtime. We are planning a new outdoor learning area which will make our playground even better. We have lots of assemblies about working together and sharing our school sensibly. We compost all our fruit waste in special bins. |
2006 We have been awarded the Artsmark Award for our provision of excellent opportunities in the Creative Arts. Thanks to Miss Beardsley for working hard to put our application forward. Thanks to to Callum and Chloe for going to Loughborough and accepting the award on our behalf. |
2007 We have been successful in retaining the Basic Skills award. | |
