Danson Primary School

Danson originally started life as Little Danson, comprising a few wooden buildings, in the early 1930s. One is still in use as a science room and canteen.

The name Danson originates from the famous Danson House, dating from the late 18th century as the school stands on land which once formed part of its estate.

The current school was opened in 1952 to accommodate the increasing population after the second world war, in which the school field played a small part as an underground munitions store for nearby air defences.

The present school has had additional classrooms in 2000 and 2002 in order to accommodate growing numbers.

PTA

Danson has a successful and hardworking PTA which is much valued. Through the year we arrange both social and fundraising events for the benefit of our children.  These include a Christmas Fayre, Quiz nights, Easter competitions, inflatable days and Summer Fayre.

All parents automatically become members of the PTA and are welcome to join us at meetings.

Notices are put up detailing the forthcoming meetings and events.  Most events are now on the yearly planner.

Over the years we have bought for the school; lunchtime play equipment, a performance stage, CD players and various equipment for the classrooms.

We are a small group and would love to expand.  We always welcome new parents and new ideas, however much time you can give is appreciated.

There are many opportunities for parents to see the life of the school in Christmas productions, harvest festivals, leavers' ceremonies, sports days etc.
