Education and Learning
We provide a wide range of services to ensure that learners of all ages are able to reach their full potential.
Nearly 40,000 young people, from the youngest nursery pupils to sixth form students, are supported by our education service, which has been nationally assessed as high performing.
We also provide high quality services for adult learners and other groups outside the framework of statutory education.
Key education objectives for the next three years include improving the quality of school buildings, extending inclusive educational opportunities for pupils with special needs, improving adult basic skills, raising pupil attainment and ensuring there are a range of formal and informal curriculum opportunities available to young people.
This section provides a wide range of information covering early years education, schools, lifelong learning opportunities, further and higher education and student support.
You will find information about childcare, equal opportunities, behaviour support and support for learners with special needs, as well as advice on student funding.
There is also a section on our School Implementation Plan, which looks at how we plan to provide school places in Plymouth over the next 10 years and beyond. This is the first major review of schools in Plymouth for more than 50 years and addresses the issues of falling pupil numbers, surplus capacity in schools and the condition of school buildings.
