Welcome to Edgehill College

Edgehill College is set in beautiful grounds of over 50 acres, with excellent facilities. Class sizes are small, usually around 15 pupils. We know each individual and understand their hopes and dreams: the personal care we give to pupils is an integral part of our ethos. All pupils are valued for their personality and character, which is reflected in the excellent relationships between pupils of all ages, staff and parents.

Through the extensive activities programme, Edgehillians develop confident leadership and interpersonal skills. The atmosphere encourages all to take part: our national champions encourage novices, all become willing to try, and mutual encouragement means many discover talents they didn't realise they possessed. This is reflected academically in the exceptional 'value added' examination results, and socially in their blend of confidence, poise and modesty.

Edgehill Nursery Unit is housed in a separate building set within the Edgehill College Preparatory School grounds. It is open from Monday to Friday, 8am to 6pm, all year except for one week at Christmas and Public Holidays.

Edgehill Nursery Unit has a separate kitchen for Nursery use only, special washing area with nappy changing facilities. It has two large sleep rooms with cots for babies and safety beds for toddlers. Each playroom is designed especially for a specific age group, offering tranquility and space.

Nearby is the Edgehill Kindergarten where, from the age of approximately 3 years, the children have a gentle introduction to pre-school education.

Children are introduced to school life at 3 years old where an exciting well planned curriculum can be experienced in our happy, caring and well equipped environment.

In a stimulating setting, firm foundations are laid for the future; the children are prepared for the first stages of reading, writing and number skills. We recommend that children attend for three sessions when they start Kindergarten and increase as they are ready.

Kindergarten children are gently integrated into some of the activities of the Reception class where they spend some time learning and integrating with the older children. This ensures a smooth transition for the children when they start.

Kindergarten children are guaranteed a place in the Reception class with whom we work closely to ensure a smooth and natural progression into full time education.

An education at Edgehill College will give your child a great start in life. We provide a friendly, stimulating and caring environment where every child feels valued and involved. Children are taught in small classes enabling them to receive lots of individual attention at each and every stage.

Children may join the preparatory school at any age and they will immediately feel welcome. Being a small school we have a great family atmosphere which enables us to know each and every pupil really well, making an easy path for a smooth transition through out the entire school.

Every child is unique and we aim to work with you to develop your child’s abilities and to encourage him or her to become a well-balanced, self disciplined and motivated individual.

Every child is encouraged to achieve their highest potential by providing a thorough and appropriate academic education. A wide range of opportunities enable all of our children to find areas of activity in which they can take pleasure.

For pupils aged 11-18

Young people at Edgehill are encouraged to develop a sense of inner security, a care and concern for others and respect for life and all that it can offer.

The College offers a broad range of subjects in its curriculum leading to Public Examinations at GCSE and A-Level.

Music, Drama, the Arts, Sports, Recreational and Creative activities are actively encouraged and run parallel with academic achievement in order to provide a sound, all-round education. Above all, Edgehill is a caring school where the welfare of pupils is paramount.

Entry to the Senior School is by examination and we are able to offer Academic, Sports, Music and Drama Scholarships for entry at ages 11+, 12+, 13+ and 16+.

In Form 1, the first year of the Senior School, all pupils study Science, ICT, Religious Studies, Drama, Music and Art in addition to English, Mathematics, French, History, Geography and PE. The curriculum also includes one lesson of Personal, Social and Moral Education.

For GCSE the core subjects are English Language, Mathematics, French and ICT. The majority of Form 5 pupils are entered for eight subjects.

Sixth Form studies at Edgehill are designed to prepare young people for the world of work and undergraduate life. For an individual, the two year period is one of a gradual transition from school pupil to independent learning student. Students study in depth subjects at either ‘A’ or ‘AS’ level, while at the same time they develop their life skills of teamwork, independent study and social responsibility through participation in some of the many interests and activities offered at the College.

Teaching will be in small groups and classes with a strong accent placed on achieving quality results through personal attention from teaching staff.
