Target-Setting

ImageYou will be asked each year to come into school twice – once in September and again in February to find out about your child’s progress.

The school has designed its own computerised system for recording reporting and monitoring your child’s progress

Achievements at primary school in the Key Stage 2 SATS tests and teacher assessments are entered into the system first. We also enter your child’s scores in another set of tests used widely called the NFER or CATS tests. All of these results help give us a very good understanding not only of your child’s current ability but also their future potential.

ImageFor students in years 7-9 we then assess again what National Curriculum level your child is currently working at twice a year. The assessment is based partly through testing. A level is entered twice a year and is reported to you at the target setting meetings.

For students in years 10-11 we assess the quality of GCSE work they are producing and report twice a year in the form of an assessed grade. The assessment may be based on either exam performance course work or a combination of both. A level is entered twice a year and is reported to you at the target setting meetings.

ImageWith this information we are then able to tell you

l    The standard being achieved in each subject

l    The progress your child is making in each subject

l    Whether the progress is better at or below expectation

l    What kind of standard your child looks likely to achieve in the future

It is our hope that following the target setting experience you will feel fully informed about your child’s progress.
