About Us
Mrs Longman
Fingringhoe is a small village school in an idyllic setting, right beside a village pond and a historic oak tree. The children tell me that the best things about our school are that "everyone knows each other" and that it "feels like one big family". Certainly, our older children take pride in looking after the younger children, especially when we go out of school to Church or swimming for example. The school is also very much part of the village community and we are well supported by our friends and neighbours.
The children are taught in four small class groups with the largest group at any time consisting of only twenty children. Each class group also has the support of one or more teaching assistants for several hours each week, with our youngest children having full-time teaching assistant support.
We aim to deliver a high standard of education within the National Curriculum while at the same time enjoying our learning. Our regular "Challenge Afternoons", for example, offer the children opportunities to learn about team-building and thinking skills while at the same time exploring scientific concepts. Yet if you were to ask any child what "Challenge Afternoons" are about, they would answer that they are for having fun! In my opinion, that encapsulates the best education can offer, learning and achieving excellence through enjoying ourselves.....
