Welcome to Fulneck School

Fulneck School is an independent day and boarding school, centrally located in Leeds, West Yorkshire and educates young people between the ages of 3 and 18. The boys and girls thrive in a happy and secure environment, moving through from Nursery to Junior School and on to Senior School.
We passionately believe that every child matters. All our pupils have different talents and as such their individuality is celebrated. Whether their success is academic, musical, sporting or other we recognise that every child is different and we will encourage their unique talent.
Our care of your children extends beyond normal school hours with full, weekly and flexi-boarding. For day pupils we offer early and late room provision. The parents of Nursery and Junior School children can take advantage of our Holiday Care provision.
We welcome the opportunity to discuss your child's future at Fulneck.  We will give you a personal tour of the school and grounds, introduce you to key members of staff and current pupils.
Every pupil achieves his or her personal goals at Fulneck. Don’t just take our word, come visit and see for yourself.

Fulneck School is a historic independent school with a Christian ethos, and is located in Pudsey, West Yorkshire, England. The school was established in 1753 by the Moravian Church in order to provide an education for the sons and daughters of the Church's ministers and missionaries. Today it provides a modern education for the pupils of West Yorkshire, as well as attracting a small number of boarders from the United Kingdom and overseas.

The school itself overlooks an attractive valley in the green-belt countryside, and is within easy reach of both Leeds and Bradford. The original 18th Century buildings have been tastefully refurbished to meet today's educational needs without losing their essential character, and are complemented by the modern laboratories, gymnasium and sixth form centre built in traditional materials.

Below is a list of key facts about the school. For more information please contact us for a full prospectus, or make an appointment to come and visit us.

  • Ages 3 to 18 years
  • Separate Nursery, Kindergarten, Junior School & Senior School
  • Fully co-educational with small teaching groups
  • Day and boarding or flexi-boarding facilities
  • Bursaries and Scholarships available
  • Learning Support Unit
  • Additional support in English language for overseas students.
  • Extended day facilities available (8.00am - 6.00pm)

Junior late class
A supervised extended day facility is provided after 3.45 pm in the ‘late-room’ on all week days.  Children are given a snack between 4pm and 5pm and will have the opportunity to do their homework.
Any junior staying after 5.30pm will either have a boarders’ tea and go straight to the dinning room or wait to be collected from Kindergarten late room.  Kindergarten pupils may stay in the late room until 6pm.  Due to Ofsted regulations for the care of children under 8 years of age, a charge of £1.50 per hour, or part thereof, is made for supervision and the provision of light refreshments in the Kindergarten late room.

Senior late facilities
Some extra-curricular activities take place after school, particularly sports clubs and matches.  The school encourages pupils to participate in these wherever possible.  In addition, should you need to collect your child later than 4.00pm, whether occasional or on a regular basis, the Late Room facility is available until 5.30pm.  Pupils will usually work or read quietly in the well-equipped Senior Library during this time or, in the lighter evenings, can spend time outside on the south side of the school.
If, occasionally, you need to leave you child at school later than 5.30pm, arrangements can be made in advance.  Pupils can accompany the school’s boarders into the dining room and, after tea, into the appropriate boarding area.

Holiday club
The Holiday Club is for children aged between 3-11.  Offering a wide range of choice, all our qualified experienced staff encourage children to play, join in games, have fun and do lots of different things.  Staff endeavour to let the children make their own choices about what they play and whom they play with under supervision and direction.  The club aims to foster independence and self-esteem, promoting fair and caring behaviour in a cooperative anti-discriminatory practice with your child at the centre of the process.

The club runs throughout the year, from Monday to Friday, 8.00am to 6.00pm, giving parents access to the facility most of the school holidays or whenever care is required.  The children are often taken on trips including; site trips to museums, farm visits, cinemas, wildlife reserves, outdoor pursuits, walking, exploration of our environment and many other indoor play activities/games.

Children are provided with a nutritious cooked meal at the end of the day, taking into consideration special dietary needs, cultural differences and religious preference.
