Furzeham Primary & Nursery School
Higher Furzeham Road, TQ5 8BL, UK Brixham
+44 (0)1803 853347

There are almost 280 children on roll, ranging from 3 to 11, who are accommodated in 10 classrooms, including our Nursery. Our children are grouped in mixed ability classes of a single age group wherever possible, but four classes have mixed age groups.

As well as the Music/Drama Hall, there is a main hall which is used for assemblies, P.E. and at dinnertime. A modern school kitchen provides good quality meals each day.

The school has three main playgrounds and these are being extensively remodelled to provide a more interesting environment for the children.

When weather permits, we use the adjacent Furzeham Green for supervised play and for sports.

We aim to provide the best possible education for your children, whatever their ability.

We try to achieve this goal by:

  • Providing a happy, caring and purposeful environment where staff, children, parents and governors work together for the benefit of the school as a whole
  • Promoting maximum development in the basic learning skills of reading, writing and number. These will provide the children with a firm foundation on which to build and extend their learning
  • Offering a broad and balanced curriculum which allows children to develop all their talents
  • Promoting self-esteem and self-discipline and a tolerance and courtesy for others
  • Valuing all children as equal members of our school community and enabling them all to contribute in some way

We aim to provide a welcoming environment where children will want to come and learn and where their natural interest and curiosity is stimulated. Our teaching programme is broad and balanced; it follows the requirements of the National Curriculum and it provides many opportunities for children to learn by investigation and their own firsthand experience.
