Georgetown Primary School
Gillbrae Road, DG1 4EJ, UK Dumfries
+44 (0)1387 263703

Georgetown Primary School is situated in Dumfries. The school roll is currently 342. The school has 12 classes for children from Primary 1 to Primary 7, as well as a 50 place nursery. A recent addition to the school is a unit for children with Special Educational Needs.

At Georgetown children are encouraged to reach their potential and every effort is made to reward positive behaviour and attitudes, with reward systems in place at every stage of the school.

Pupils at Georgetown Primary School are asked to take responsibility for their learning environment. We have a pupil council made up of seven Primary 7 pupils who were elected by their peers. The pupil council meet regularly, with a member of the management. An active Eco-School Committee, made up of pupils from different stages of the school, strive to improve the schools environment and grounds.

Children at the Centre

Our school is a school where everyone associated with Georgetown Primary can enjoy the many and varied opportunities to reach their full potential in a healthy, happy, harmonious and reflective environment.

The school building is around 30 years old. Recent building work resulted in a purpose built unit for children with severe and complex difficulties along with new nursery classrooms. There is also a hydrotherapy pool and soft play area.

The school is fortunate enough to have a large playing field, which plays frequent host to a range of sporting events and is well utilised for extra-curricular activities.
