Headteachers Message
Welcome back to the Autumn term. I think most of you have heard that I am retiring in December, therefore this is a very special term for me. The Governors have appointed Mrs Sue Cameron as the new headteacher from 1st January 2008. She has lots of experience and is presently the headteacher at Brierley Hill Primary School. She will be introduced to the staff and children during this term and there will be plenty of opportunities for handover procedure to be carried out.
Once again this term the staff have planned exciting topics for the children, who will enjoy visits to various places and speakers are joining us in school, to enhance our curriculum. I am sure that during this first term with their new teachers the children will be motivated to learn, and the curriculum will be both enjoyable and interesting.
A parents evening has been arranged for Thursday 20th September, when there will be an opportunity for you to meet the staff and ensure your child is comfortable and happy to learn.
We were delighted with this years SATs results which were the best the school has ever achieved. Our results are :- English L4 95% L5 65% ( 2006 90% L5 47% ) Maths L4 92% L5 46% ( 2006 77% L5 34%) Science L4 98% L5 70% ( 2006 90% L5 51% )
We wish the children who have just moved on to their secondary education all the best for their future.
We welcome one new teaching member of staff, Miss Whitelaw, who is in Year 5. We have several new support staff and a new member of staff, Mrs Hughes, working part time, in the school office
If anyone has concerns, or ideas to improve our school, please come in and talk to me or phone the school on 01384 816960 .
