WELCOME

Godstowe is a happy and thriving preparatory school for girls aged 3 to 13. We also have boys in the Pre-Prep and Nursery.

Godstowe is well known for setting the highest possible standards and enjoys an enviable reputation. We believe that we are the best at what we do and would very much like to have the chance to show you why we are so proud of Godstowe. Given the chance, children flourish here, in and out of the classroom.

We can provide an outstanding preparation for senior school and are always mindful of the fact that just as important as what girls know will be what they are like. Enjoyment, at Godstowe, is compulsory. Don't take our word for it; come and see for yourself. You will be made to feel very welcome.
David Gainer, Headmaster at Godstowe.

INTRODUCTION

Godstowe is remarkable in many ways: it is non-selective on entry, but is one of the most academically successful prep schools in the UK. In the earliest stages our pupils follow a broad, but highly-structured curriculum in which literacy and numeracy are of the utmost importance.

Small classes and first rate facilities ensure that each child receives a generous amount of individual attention. Enquiring minds are stretched in an environment where effort, good manners, consideration for others and success are nurtured and rewarded.

Lessons are stimulating and children are encouraged to think for themselves, to question and to debate. Classroom boundaries are often stretched through visits within the local area and more distant excursions and field trips.

In a warm and secure environment, children learn with confidence, creativity and focus. The teachers are especially nurturing and committed to bringing out the best in every child. Learning and teaching are active, exciting and coherent. Teachers present subject matter in imaginative ways and frequently use games, role play and stimulating projects in addition to more traditional teaching styles.

We welcome close parental involvement in the school and believe that our tradition of excellence in education is truly a result of community involvement.

With small classes and expert teaching we achieve remarkable results and will work closely with you to ensure your daughter is happy and that her potential is fulfilled.
