Here at Great Malvern we aim to combine excellence in teaching with enjoyment in learning, through provision of an inclusive, balanced and broadly based curriculum that promotes spiritual, moral, cultural, mental and physical development, and prepares children for the opportunities and responsibilities of secondary education and later life. Whatever strengths your child may have we aim to develop them, be they academic, sporting or artistic; if they need our support we will effectively make sure that each child achieves their full potential. Our results show that our academically gifted pupils achieve excellent standards whist we achieve above average value added progress with other pupils.Great Malvern Primary School lies near the centre of the Victorian spa town of Malvern at the foot of the beautiful and renowned Malvern Hills. It is a large, two-form entry primary school with around 420 pupils on roll aged 3 -11. The red brick main building dates from 1916 and has been sympathetically extended and altered since then. The school comprises 10 classrooms in the main building, 2 double mobile classrooms, a very large multi-purpose hall with a newly refurbished kitchen off, a 10 place Language Centre and various administration and resource rooms. We also have a converted bungalow which houses a well-equipped and well-staffed full-time nursery run by a fully-qualified teacher and fully-qualified NNEBs. The school also has 3 large newly-marked playgrounds, an excellent adventure playground, a new TrimTrak, comfortable rustic wooden seating, a conservation area and exclusive daytime use of a council owned basketball court and playing fields at Duke's Meadow. The school runs its own excellent hot meals service providing up to 150 meals each day.
The school is very well equipped and resourced for all subjects in the National Curriculum. It has around 40 networked PCs in classrooms and a 16 base networked ICT suite with interactive whiteboard and data projector; we have interactive technology in each classroom too. We have also invested in a brand new library for the 21st Century as well as a state of the art PPA centre which will help to support the highest standards in learning and teaching. The school is very secure, being covered by CCTV cameras and with electronic entry and exit systems. We benefit from close links with The Chase High School which has recently been awarded Beacon School status.
Our school motto is "We Smile" and the warmth of their welcome and the smiling faces of the children impress visitors to the school. We work hard and play hard too! Children's academic achievements are high, Special Educational Needs provision is extremely good and both music and sport are great strengths of the school. Our Mission Statement, "Working together for success", encapsulates what we try to do in every aspect of school life.
Our Badge has been around for a long time. It's a picture of a happy hedgehog lying on his back smiling! Around this picture is a circular ring, inside the ring there is text - it reads - Great Malvern Primary School - We Smile! |
