WELCOME TO OUR SCHOOL!

Art, music and drama are at the heart of our school, subjects through which all children can develop self confidence and esteem, working with professional artists and musicians. Our web-site gives you a flavour of some of the activities we have undertaken recently.

Our expectations in all areas of the curriculum are high and we try to ensure that all children, are provided with opportunities to develop their own unique talents and ability.

MISSION STATEMENT

The School aims to develop self-motivated, self-controlled and responsible individuals. Recognising its historic foundation, the school will preserve and develop its religious character in accordance with the principles of the Church of England and in partnership with the Church at parish and diocesan level.

The school aims to serve its community by providing an education of the highest quality within the context of Christian belief and practice. It encourages an understanding of the meaning and significance of faith, and promotes Christian values through the experience it offers to all its pupils.

The school aims to provide sound academic foundations upon which each child can later build, according to their needs and interests. This will require the development of a curriculum, which is relevant to the needs of pupils in a changing world, which allows them to proceed at their own pace, and yet which provides for the development of special aptitudes.

CURRICULUM

All children follow a common curriculum in the Core Subjects (English, Maths and Science) supported by Foundation subjects, History, Geography, Art, Music, P.E. Design Technology, Information & Communication Technology and R.E.

Emphasis is placed on the value of practical experience in these subjects particularly with young children, to ensure that they have a sound understanding of the concepts involved. Sometimes children appear to learn more quickly by rote, but we find that subsequent progress becomes increasingly slow and difficult. In this way, children who progress more quickly are able to go well beyond normal primary school work, whilst ensuring that other children can spend sufficient time at each stage to grasp concepts fully.

As children go through school, they will be given increased responsibility with their work and will be encouraged to take work home.
