Welcome to the governors' area of the Haddenham County First School website. As many of you will be aware, all community schools (and HCFS is a community infant school) have a board of governors. The role of the governors is to provide guidance and direction to the school and to act as a "critical friend" to the staff. Governors don't get involved in the day-to-day issues of running the school, which is best left to the professional staff, but we do work with the staff on setting targets, reviewing and updating policies, and ensuring that the school is fulfilling its statutory obligations - a bit like a non-executive board of directors. Because the school is a community school, the governing body is made up of a mix of people to represent the various interests of the community. The governing body currently comprises:
All governors give their time voluntarily and whilst it can be a commitment with a lot of time and effort involved, it's also very rewarding - especially when the school, like ours, is successful and thriving with a great ethos.
If you would like to discuss any aspects of the work of the governing body, then please don't hesitate to contact the Chair of Governors via the school.
Every year, the Governing Body produces an Annual Report covering the previous academic year. From September 2006, this will be replaced by an online report called the School Profile which will be published on the DfES website. Please click on the link below to access last year's report.
