Haslingden Primary School is a friendly Primary School situated in the heart of Haslingden with nearly 500 children on roll. The school has excellent facilities including a multipurpose hall, a gymnasium, sports fields, interactive classrooms and a large IT suite. The pupils have a strong voice in the school through their School Council.

The curriculum taught at this school is underpinned by a belief that each child should strive to produce his/her best. Classes are organised as mixed ability groups but work within each class is planned to match each individual as closely as possible. The intention is always to challenge each child without creating a sense of failure.

Staff seek to devise activities and tasks for children, which bring about progression and development throughout their time with us. This serves to ensure that the requirements of the National Curriculum are met as well as presenting a broader curriculum. We are interested in the ‘whole child’.

The National Curriculum consists of ten curriculum areas, which all children must study.

In addition to the regular programme of PE, Games and Swimming the school runs girls and boys football, netball, rounders, cricket, handball, and cross country running teams.

There are three choirs, recorder groups, percussion and orchestra, all of whom perform regularly for the parents of children in school and at outside events. A number of events are presented each year. Extra curricular activities are detailed on the following page. Musicians, theatre groups, children’s writers etc arrange regular visits to school.

Parties of Year 6 children have a residential visit each summer to a Centre in North Wales.
