ABOUT US

Our school is part of Holy Family Parish and we see it in family terms. We aim to develop our children's all round potential in a happy, secure and disciplined environment To achieve this we are committed to a partnership of parents, staff, governors and the whole Christian community Our school is founded on faith in Jesus Christ and his teachings and we accept the guidance of the Catholic Church in establishing that foundation. Holy Family and Sacred Heart.

VISION

We believe that all pupils deserve a full and rewarding educational experience, which encourages them to reach their highest potential and allows them to contribute as citizens of their community. We believe in the complete development of the child, supporting their spiritual, moral, social, physical and educational needs. We believe this can only happen in a genuinely caring environment where a safe, positive and enjoyable atmosphere is provided, allowing everyone to develop confidence and a good all round rapport.

Therefore all staff work closely to help each individual pupil reach their personal goals. In accordance with our mission statement, we accept the guidance of the Catholic Church. Communication with parents, governors and the wider community helps home and school to achieve common goals. Shared aims are agreed and achieved, as a result of co-operation and trust. Teachers are responsible for providing a broad and balanced curriculum and communicating high expectations to pupils, providing learning opportunities that address their individual needs. They are responsible for giving support through encouragement and guidance in a manner that makes each pupil feel important and respected.

All pupils will be actively involved in their own learning respecting themselves, their peers and staff. They will be intrinsically motivated to do their best, displaying appropriate behaviour and showing responsibility for their actions. All pupils will demonstrate good citizenship showing high self-esteem and consideration for others. Each pupil will learn the skills and knowledge they need to face their future in the real world.

CURRICULUM

In Reception, the children follow the Foundation Stage curriculum which aims to develop their social, physical, spiritual and creative skills as well as promoting development emotionally and intellectually.

From Year 1, children are introduced to the National Curriculum which contains the core subjects of RE, Literacy, Numeracy, Science and Information and Communication Technology (ICT) as well as the foundation subjects of History, Geography, Art, Design Technology (DT), Music and PE. In addition, we also teach Personal, Social and Health Education (PSHE).

Staff make every effort to match work to pupils’ differing abilities – offering additional support where necessary and stretching the more able with challenging and open-ended tasks.

Staff use a wide range of teaching strategies to motivate, challenge and inspire children. We are actively involved in current educational research and always look for different approaches to fire the children’s imagination.
