STATEMENT OF PURPOSE
Hornsea Community Primary School is a Learning Place.

It is a place that encourages all to be:

Learners for life.
Excited by the opportunities.
Achievers at the hightest level.
Respectful and caring individuals.
Numerate and literate.
Independent but co-operative.
New, creative thinkers.
Goal setters.

Proud of themselves, each other and their school.
Listeners.
Active in mind and body.
Celebrators of success.
Equally treated.

Hornsea is a co-educational establishment catering for the needs of children 4 to 11 years.

We welcome you to our school and look forward to a happy and successful association over the coming years. Confidence in a school comes from knowing and understanding what happens within it. It is important that mutual understanding and trust be the basis of our shared responsibility.

We seek to develop a strong partnership between home and school. Parents are always welcome into school. We value the contributions you can make in supporting your child and other children in school and at home.

The school's philosophy and ethos are shared by all the staff who collectively strive to get the best from every child by providing a happy, caring, stable and stimulating environment where every child feels valued and, in turn, treats others with respect.

The school has a "Friends" Association, fostering close and happpy relationships between parents and staff. Indeed the whole of the school/home family can be involved. (grandparents too!)

We welcome parents to help in the classroom. If you are available please let your child's teacher know.

Parents are encouraged to play a major part in their child's education. Research has shown that where parents understand what a school is trying to do and take an active interest in and support their child's learning, the effects are dramatic and long lasting.

OUR GOLDEN RULES

We are very proud that we all belong to Hornsea COMMUNITY Primary school. The school community work together to decide our 'GOLDEN RULES'. These are displayed throughout the school and every child and staff member follows these rules. The children receive daily rewards for being an active community member.

KEY STAGE ONE'S GOLDEN RULES.

We are kind and gentle to everyone and we do not hurt them.

We work hard and always do our best.

We listen without interrupting or shouting out.

We walk around our school and we look after our belongings.

We always tell the truth.

We are polite and well mannered.

KEY STAGE TWO'S GOLDEN RULES.

We respect everyone and their property.

We work hard and always do our best.

We listen without interrupting or calling out.

We co-operate and consider others when we play.

We always tell the truth and take responsibility for our actions.

We are polite and speak kindly to others.

UNIFORM

We have a school uniform, which children are expected to wear. A uniform fosters a sense of belonging and eliminates rivalry in dress code. The uniform consists of the following:

Blue sweatshirt or sweat cardigan
Polo shirst or t- shirt
These are available through the school office complete with our school logo.

Grey trousers/navy or grey skirt
Available through normal retail outlets.

INDOOR SHOES
Plimsoles or other soft shoes
(not slippers)

P.E
Navy shorts
White plain t-shirt
T-shirts are available from the school office.

These need to be kept in a P.E bag in the cloakroom.

Additionally:
Woolly hat (winter use)
Blue baseball/legionnaires hats (for summer use)
Blue showerproof/fleeced lined jacket with school logo.

These are also availble from the school office with our school logo.

Please ensure that your child wears suitable footwear to come to school .
