Kathie Rhodes, Headteacher

I am Kathie Rhodes, the headteacher of Featherbank. I am privileged to lead a team of exceptionally hard working enthusiastic staff, to work with bright, happy and responsive children and caring supportive parents.

Featherbank is at the heart of the community and is often the school attended by parents (and grandparents) of our present children. Our very good reputation is well-deserved, the academic achievements of our children are some of the best in the city, year on year! The enhanced curriculum offers challenge, support and learning opportunities for all children. We are all part of a happy inclusive school.

Aims of our School

The school aims are as follows:

  • To provide a broad, balanced and relevant curriculum through the Framework of the National Curriculum and National Strategies that is matched to the individual needs and abilities of the learner so encouraging and enabling every child to develop their full potential.

  • To develop a partnership between the home and school that is beneficial and supportive for the child.

  • To provide a safe, happy and stimulating environment where every child can succeed.

  • To develop a sense of respect, courtesy and care towards each other and the environment.

  • To ensure that all learners have equality of opportunity.

  • To foster high expectations of behaviour and responsibility.

  • To assist children to develop personally, morally and spiritually having a respect and tolerance of other religions and cultures.

  • To foster the development of attitudes and skills that will give children increasing control over their own lives and enable them to contribute positively to the local and wider community.

  • To encourage all children to participate in a healthy lifestyle.
