We have a burning desire for continued improvement and underpinning all of this is our caring ethos, which stems from our Christian roots.

Hull Collegiate School buildingHull Collegiate School has been established as the result of a merger between two of Hull’s top independent schools, Hull High School and Hull Grammar School. Situated four miles to the west of Hull and one mile north east of the Humber Bridge, the school is based at Tranby Croft, a beautiful country house which benefits from five hectares of mature landscaped grounds.

The Preparatory School is housed in a purpose-built facility on the same site and was opened in 2004. The Senior Schools joined forces in September 2005, completing the multi-million pound investment by parent company United Church Schools Trust. This has provided state-of-the-art facilities and transformed the school into a first class learning environment for the twenty first century.

Teacher and Children Our key objective is to bring out the best in every child. We believe that learning should be challenging, stimulating, enjoyable and readily achievable by all. Teaching is inspirational and delivered by motivated staff. Our superb facilities excite pupils and encourage them to participate.

We have a burning desire for continued improvement, and underpinning all of this is our caring ethos, which stems from our Christian roots. We aim to develop confident, caring members of the community who, with sustained efforts, enthusiasm and integrity, will find no goal beyond their reach and no prize unobtainable.

FACILITIES

Hull Collegiate School pupils benefit from the very best learning environment with state-of-the-art facilities.

Jane PlewesWelcome to Hull Collegiate Preparatory School where children are happy and confident to take advantage of their opportunities.

We aim to give our children the individual care and attention they need to develop their skills and talents fully.

In a changing world, we strive to create a learning environment which enables children to be adaptable, resilient, capable of using their abilities in many ways, ready for anything and afraid of nothing.

The School’s Christian ethos is central to our desire to develop young people who are tolerant, courteous, kind and unselfish; people with a strong sense of personal and social responsibility.

At all times, we strive for excellence, both academically and personally. High Standards are celebrated and all achievement is encouraged and rewarded.

Hull Collegiate School provides this through a sense of ownership and belonging; to a class, to a year group, to a house, to a whole school community.

Rob HaworthAt the heart of Hull Collegiate School is strong ethos of care and inclusion. Any action, policy or change is effected with the pupils’ best interests at heart, and we work tirelessly to ensure that they receive, as a minimum, their entitlement: a good education. In a wider sense our aim is to make sure that every single person who visits our school is welcomed, noticed, respected and left with the abiding impression that they would be welcome to return.

No pupil can be truly happy without a sense of security. Hull Collegiate School provides this through a sense of ownership and belonging; to a class, to a year group, to a house, to a whole school community. Pupils see that staff are valued and respected for their personal qualities and contributions to school life. They also feel that they are approachable. Staff earn their respect by allowing each pupil the freedom to find his or her niche, and by valuing their individual talents. At Hull Collegiate School we place great emphasis on the importance of these interpersonal relationships. Similarly we consider the recognition and celebration of achievement, academic or otherwise, as crucial.

Rob Haworth watching two pupils workPupils arrive at the school each day confident, happy and ready for the challenges ahead. They have a sense of expectation and purpose. Knowing what is required of them in terms of appearance, attendance, conduct and work, they are allowed to explore the real sense of joy that achievement, improvement and belonging can bring.

  • SIXTH FORM

We encourage our Sixth Formers to take on responsibility and develop independence, maturity and leadership skills.

boy readingWe encourage our Sixth Formers to take on responsibility and develop independence, maturity and leadership skills. This ensures that they are one step ahead when applying for places in higher education, or when entering employment.

Studies at AS and A2 level are challenging. However with a high level of motivation and commitment, many pupils find their time in the Sixth Form to be the most stimulating, enriching and rewarding of their school career.

Sixth Form at Hull Collegiate School is a transitional period, as pupils move from the more structured study style of Year 11, to the self-sufficiency required in Further and Higher Education. It is not a journey however that our sixth formers take alone. On the contrary, we analyse and monitor each pupil’s progress to ensure that they receive the very best academic, career and pastoral guidance.

In the Sixth Form pupils identify their strengths and interests, and have the opportunity to develop them. They can concentrate on subjects they particularly enjoy, and study them in greater depth and detail.
