| About Us
Ilsington primary school is a small village school on the eastern edge of Dartmoor in Devon, South West England.
The stars of our school are of course, the children themselves. Very few visitors fail to comment on their politeness, energy and enthusiasm! I feel very privileged and proud to lead their learning - they deserve the best.
We are committed to providing the children with a safe, stimulating and attractive environment in which to learn. My sincere thanks goes out to the Friends and the wider community for their part in supporting us in this venture.
We have a hard working and dedicated staff charged with providing pupils with quality learning opportunities.

| It is our aim that the children should behave in a self-disciplined and caring manner. We believe that good relationships and respect for others are the foundations of this and our most important school rule is: 'Treat others as you would like them to treat you'.
If children fall short of the high standards we expect, we will seek to ensure that the behaviour is not repeated, through discussion with the child or, if necessary, sanctions such as loss of playtime. If a child fails to respond to these measures, we will involve parents to help resolve the problem.
|
| The Curriculum is organised on a three year rolling programme to ensure coverage of the entire programmes of study and to accommodate the fact that, in common with most village schools, we teach in mixed age classes. The programmes are introduced by means of a topic which provides a focus, giving breadth and continuity.
Teachers assess the progress and achievements of children regularly in order to provide for their future needs. Pupils in Years 2 to 6 are tested annually with Standardised Assessment Tests in English and Mathematics along with Science at Year6. Copies of the National Curriculum and Schemes of work and policies are available from the school office.
