Welcome to Intake High School Arts College

Starting secondary school is a big event in any person’s life. At Intake we have recognized the need to make the transition from year 6 to year 7 a priority in order to give our students the best possible start.  Beginning in September 2006 we have introduced a new curriculum at Intake which enables us to continue some of the best practice we have seen at primary school, while easing the students into learning at Secondary level.

Thank you for taking an interest in our school. Intake is a friendly place, with a hard working staff supported by a committed governing body. We are proud of our reputation as an improving and caring school, with a real commitment to placing the individual needs of students at the heart of all we do.

We have high expectations for everyone in our school community. As one of the first Performing Arts specialist schools in the country, we have an impressive record of achievement in the Arts. Many of Intake’s former students have gained success on stage and screen, some becoming household names. Alongside this, there is much to celebrate in the diverse achievements of Intake students. The outstandingly high achievement of our post-16 students in the academic and vocational pathways puts us right at the top of sixth form added value league tables. Success beyond the classroom in sporting endeavour and social development is another feature of life at Intake which makes it such a productive place to learn.

The values expressed in the school aims reflect our shared belief in providing opportunities for all students to reach their full potential, whatever their starting point. We know that this is best achieved in a supportive, encouraging environment where mutual and self-respect is promoted. We want students to leave this school as confident, tolerant young people, able to work independently and think creatively, making a positive contribution in a fast-changing world.

I hope the information on this web-site is useful, and that you will take the time to see us at work during our open evenings. For Year 11 wishing to join us in Y12, this will be November 16th at 6.30. If you would like any further information, please contact us to arrange a visit.
