We hope that this web pagewill give you an impression of what we can offer your child when he or she becomes a pupil at our school.
It is, however difficult to give a complete picture of the caring, secure environment we strive to create, or the high standards of teaching, learning and behaviour we seek to maintain in the space of this following web page.
We invite you to come and visit our school so you can see for yourself
and take the opportunity to discuss this important decision, and the individual needs of your child with the Headteacher.
We look forward to you and your child becoming part of our school community and to working in partnership with you in the future.
The school was opened in 1970, having been built on the site of a Victorian school, which had been destroyed during the War.
We aim to:

Provide a stimulating environment in which the children in our care will receive a broad and challenging education
Encourage in children a desire to strive for excellence in all areas of school life
Make our pupils eager, independent learners, who have confidence and pride in their achievements

CURRICULUM

Children in nursery and rising 5 classes follow a learning programme based on the governments recommended Early Learning Goals for children pre compulsory education. They are given experiences and learning opportunities which develop their skills and concepts in six areas: -

Language and Literacy                                                      Personal and social

Mathematical                                                                    Aesthetic and creative

Physical                                                                            Knowledge of the World

Children in the Reception class follow the Early Learning Goals and Numeracy and Literacy strategies.

Children in Year 1 and Year 2 classes follow the National Curriculum, which covers:

English                                                                             Mathematics

Science                                                                            Art

Music                                                                               Geography

History                                                                             Physical Education

Technology                                                                     Information Technology

They also follow the Buckinghamshire Agreed Syllabus for Religious Education,

and an adapted PSHE scheme

Statutory age children have a daily hour of teaching in Literacy and a further forty five minutes in Numeracy, to learn and consolidate basic skills.

As far as possible teachers plan their work through half-termly or termly cross-curricular topics, and teach through a variety of styles, contexts and approaches. Copies of the National Curriculum and schemes of work can be seen throughout the school.

As we are concerned to develop the whole child time is given to cross-curricular issues such as Multi-cultural awareness and Personal, Social and Health Education. Sex Education is taught in the context of the rest of the curriculum (e.g. in a topic on Ourselves) and consists of a simple knowledge of body parts and healthy living, together with general safety information.
