| Welcome to King Edward VI Community College
It is a privilege to be the Principal of King Edward VI Community College (KEVICC). We are blessed with some wonderful young people, supportive parents and a talented team of staff.
Our campus is a delight with the River Dart on one boundary and the beautiful Sixth Form Centre in its own grounds on the other side.
What is particularly special about KEVICC are the excellent relationships that exist. We listen to the students, we give them a lot of responsibility and they accordingly have responded positively. It is a happy and successful school.
We are also a school that is not afraid to make brave decisions if we believe it will benefit our work. For example in 2003 we successfully introduced a non-uniform policy and in 2004 we appointed an Executive Chef who prepares outstanding meals, locally sourced.

| Kennicott is open to all students who wish to benefit from the wide range of courses we offer. Based in Kennicott house close to, but separate from, the rest of the College, it offers a friendly, more adult atmosphere in which to study. There are many reasons to consider Kennicott - to obtain the qualifications you need; to gain greater confidence and experience in a demanding but more informal environment and to use the time to consider your future in supportive surroundings. Whatever the reason it is important to note that we have high expectations of our students based on the essential partnership of staff, students and parents. This relationship is essential in ensuring that you fulfil your potential during your time with us. Above all, we look forward to working with you, together creating an atmosphere of endeavour where you can enjoy your studies and are given every opportunity to succeed both now and in the future.

| Here, at KEVICC, we believe that a Community College should be truly what it claims. It should serve the whole community and work with the community to provide as wide a range of learning opportunities as possible for everyone in that community - with the minimum of red tape and at a reasonable price. For this reason, I and my fellow governors at KEVICC, with support and co-operation from and in partnership with Devon County Council and the KEVICC Foundation, have set up a new company whose purpose is to encourage members of the community to come forward and offer educational opportunities to the rest of us. This leaflet is the first step in creating what we hope will be a vibrant and ever-growing range of courses that will use the fantastic new facilities available at the Mansion to the full, as well as marketing and promoting community access to the improved facilities on the KEVICC campus.
